Patrick Jane ชายหนุ่มช่างสังเกตและมีความสามารถพิเศษในการสะกดจิต คน ได้เข้ามาเป็นที่ปรึกษาให้กับทีมสืบสวนของ CBI หลังจากสูญเสียภรรยาและลูกให้กับฆาตกรต่อเนื่องที่ยั งลอยนวล วิธีการสืบสวนนอกตำราของ Jane ทำให้หัวหน้าสาวสวยอย่าง Teresa Lisbon ต้องคอยรับมือกับสารพัดปัญหาที่เกิดขึ้นตามมา แต่ดูเหมือนสมาชิกในทีมคนอื่นๆจะหลงเสน่ห์ความบ้าและ ความอัจฉริยะของเขาเสียแล้ว
